Final Fantasy VII Revelation Collector’s Edition

Final Fantasy VII Revelation is the third and final game in Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. It picks up immediately after Rebirth and is meant to close the remake of the 1997 original.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi has said the internal theme is “Resolve,” but they chose the subtitle Revelation because this is the chapter that answers the lingering questions from Remake and Rebirth. “This is the end of everything… this is where you will find out all the answers.”

Release

  • April 8, 2027 (confirmed today during PlayStation’s State of Play)
  • Simultaneous launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S,
  • Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox PC)
  • Pre-orders went live today

This is the first game in the remake trilogy to launch on all platforms at the same time (the first two were timed PS5 exclusives).

Story setup (official)
Cloud and the party are grieving a beloved ally. Sephiroth is nearing godhood, Meteor hangs in the sky, and the planet’s Weapons have awakened. The group takes the Highwind and races to stop the destruction of the planet. Locations confirmed or shown include an expanded Wutai, Mideel, the Northern Continent, Rocket Town, underwater areas, and a return to Midgar as an explorable location.

Player choices will affect how you experience certain characters and some story beats, but they will not change the trilogy’s overall ending.

What’s new

  • Vincent Valentine and Cid Highwind are playable. Vincent mixes gunplay with Galian Beast transformations (no strict time limit). Cid is a lance-focused aerial fighter in the Dragoon mold.
  • Highwind. You get the airship relatively early (roughly 4–5 hours depending on side content). The world is treated as a globe; you can fly in one direction and eventually reach the other side. You can also skydive/parachute from the ship onto the map.
  • FITS (Function Integrated Tactical Suitwear). Outfit-based “jobs” that change a character’s moveset. Confirmed examples include Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner. Every party member can use the same set of FITS.
  • Piko the Chocobo returns as both a mount and a combat ally that grows with the party.

The combat system is described as the “perfected” version of the hybrid real-time + tactical style from the first two games.

Editions (as of today’s announcement)
Pre-order bonus for all versions: Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia.

Notable versions:

  • Standard — $69.99
  • Premium — $99.99 (includes Story Expansion
  • Pass + 24-hour early access)
  • Premium Plus — $109.99 (adds digital artbook, mini-soundtrack, extra in-game items)
  • Physical Deluxe and a $349.99 Collector’s Edition (statue of Cloud/Zack/Sephiroth, steelbook, etc.) exist as well
  • A digital Remake Series Trilogy bundle is also available

The Story Expansion Pass covers two planned story DLCs (one focused on Sephiroth, one on Vincent & the Turks), expected between winter 2027 and spring 2028.

That’s the current official picture. The game is still seven months out, so more details (and more trailers) will keep coming.
