Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution Revolutionary Edition

Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution Revolutionary Edition is a special edition of the platform-adventure game developed and published by WayForward, set to release digitally on August 19, 2025, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. It’s also available for pre-order as a physical release through Limited Run Games, with pre-orders closing on September 7, 2025. This edition builds on the standard version of the game, which is the sixth entry in the Shantae series and an interquel set between the original Shantae (2002) and Shantae: Risky’s Revenge (2010).

The game follows Shantae, a half-genie, as she explores Sequin Land to stop her nemesis, Risky Boots, who uses a subterranean device called the Tremor Engine to rotate the continent, rearranging towns for easier plundering. Shantae uses her signature hair-whip attacks, magical items, and belly-dance transformations (including monkey, elephant, crab, mermaid, spider, and harpy) to navigate multilayered levels, solve puzzles, and battle foes. The game features a unique mechanic where Shantae can shift foreground and background playfields using Tremor Engine switches to access new areas.
